PRIVACY · DATENSCHUTZ
Short version: no account, no cookies, no ads, no tracking across sites. We only process what is needed to deliver the page and run online matches.
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE
Philipp Gappmaier, Zollamtstraße 7b, 4020 Linz, Austria (private project).
HOSTING AND SERVER LOGS
The game runs on a server rented from Hetzner Online GmbH in the EU. When you load the page, the web server writes an access log entry (time, requested file, status code, browser type). IP addresses are removed before the entry is written. Log files are deleted after 30 days. Legal basis: legitimate interest in running and securing the site (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR).
ONLINE MATCHES AND CHAT
For multiplayer your browser keeps a connection to our game server. The name you type, your room, your orders in the match and your chat messages are passed to the other players in that room. They are held in the server's memory only while the room exists and are not written to disk; chat is not stored or logged. Rooms are deleted shortly after everyone has left. Legal basis: providing the game you asked for (Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR). Please don't put personal information into names or chat.
FEEDBACK FORM
If you send feedback from the game, the server stores your text, the optional contact you typed (e-mail or handle), the time and a little game context (single player or online, map, faction, minutes played, screen size). Your IP address is not stored; it is only held in memory for a few minutes to stop spam. Feedback is read by the developer only and deleted once it has been dealt with, at the latest after 12 months. Legal basis: your request (Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR) and legitimate interest in improving the game (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR).
STORAGE IN YOUR BROWSER
The game stores a few settings in your browser's local storage: sound and music on/off, your player name, the last map you picked and whether you have seen the intro. For online matches a random reconnect key is kept in session storage, which your browser deletes when you close the tab. This data stays on your device and is never used to identify you. You can delete it at any time by clearing site data in your browser.
VISITOR STATISTICS (UMAMI)
To see how many people play and which maps and factions they pick, we use Umami, an open-source statistics tool, run on our own server (stats.levels.dev). Umami sets no cookies, does not store IP addresses and cannot follow you to other websites. It records page views, referring site, browser, operating system, device type and country, plus anonymous game events (game started or ended, faction, map, difficulty, result, length; room created or joined). Names, chat and room codes are never sent. Legal basis: legitimate interest in understanding how the game is used (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR).
FONTS AND OTHER SERVICES
All files, including the fonts, are served from our own server. The page loads nothing from Google or any other third party.
YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Write to the address above. If you think we process your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, dsb.gv.at).
